Can 2 people lose a match?

Ladder match the other day, I take out the last unit card with my last unit card. blade shield then takes out my card aftet theirs dies.

I imagine the other person lost too. If they won, that's retarded. Both of us losing DP is also retarded.

Shouldn't we tie? We can't both lose that makes no sense. And if the person who's blade shield activates aftet their card died first wins, that makes no sense.

This is known as "Extinction" where both sides lose all unit cards. The victor is the one who had a lower total HP. I had this happen to me before.

The other case is a time out where the player with the higher remaining HP wins

If both sides get wiped out, victory goes to the one who started with the least hit points.

In answer to the original question, Ive played a mirror with exactly the same hp and we both died. I lost and can only assume that both sides lose in this unlikely scenario.
