What is the value of gold, diamonds, and rubies?

EDIT: Changing computed values to base purchases, not the extra you may obtain by purchasing in large quantities.

As I stayed up three hours past my bedtime to get 10 rubies worth of achievements (I'm a sucker for those), I started wondering what the value of a ruby is. There are a few ways of looking at this. If you don't want to look at all my boring math, scroll to the bottom.
First, let's value out the diamond, because the price of rubies is based on that.
Worth of Diamonds
Diamonds cost 10 cents each (50 diamond for $5).
Which means that ladder rewards work out to be:
1st place: 500 * .10 = $50
2nd place: 250 * .10= $25
3rd place: 100 * .10= $10
4th-10th place: 50 * .10= $5
11th-25th place: 25 * .10= $2.50
26th-50th place: 20 * .10= $2
51st-100th place: 15 * .10= $1.50 (This is also the cost of reviving a legendary if you lose it in a card loot battle)
101st-200th place: 10 * .10= $1
201st-500th place: 5 * .10= 50 cents
I think this is why so many people have called for re-evaluating the prizes. I think coming between 4th and 10th place is admirable, but your "prize" after of a month of fighting is less than a combo meal at McDonald's. At least you get gold and rubies through the daily objectives... that, more than anything else, is what keeps me playing ladder matches.
By my math, if 500 people play, then EBC will hand out 5325 diamonds, or roughly $532.50 worth of diamonds in prizes. That might sound like a lot, but remember that this is virtual currency that doesn't cost EBC anything, and I'm sure several of you made purchases in hopes of proving yourselves in the first season of ladders.
Value of gold
You can purchase gold at 250 gold per diamond (base price: 2,500 gold for 10 diamonds). At 10 cents per diamond, you are getting 2,500 for a dollar. If you win a 100 gold battle, you've just earned 4 cents.
Value of rubies
Buying rubies with diamonds gets you 10 rubies per diamond. Since a diamond is worth 10 cents, that puts the value of rubies at one penny.
So chasing those rubies for three hours with this method got me 15 cents of virtual goodies. Plus the 100 gold (4 cents), so actually it is 19 cents.
Ouch!
Bottom Line
So what is everything worth?
Gold = 25 gold is 1 penny, 100 gold is 4 cents
Diamonds = 10 cents
Rubies = 1 cent
So, if you win 25 matches, with 5 of them being card loot battles, 10 of them being ladder, and 10 of them being money bets, you'll earn 35 rubies. You can then fight 10 of your friends for another 10 rubies. This much fighting for 45 rubies is valued at 45 cents. Plus whatever gold you make through leveling and winning. These 35 matches takes HOURS!! So you decide if it is worth your time.
I've done 275 battles and hope to be in the top 10. Over the next, I'll probably need to do at least 50 more battles to not fall out of my current placement of rank #7. Luckily I've paid to speed up the matches, but I'd say it takes about 5 minutes per match. That is about 30 hours of playing to earn $5 worth of prizes. Hmmmmm....
To put things in perspective
Before patch 1.6, we were able to purchase 200 rubies for 8,000 gold. 8000 gold = $3.20. That means that, back then, rubies were worth 1.6 cents each. They've lost over one third of their value.
I hope you find that helpful.
