Cards Loot Battle FAQs

Here it is, everything you wanted to know about loot battle, but was afraid to ask... I'll keep this updated as I discover new things and to keep up with anything changed in patches.

Q: What is loot battle?

A: Loot battle is one of the three forms of battles you can choose from (a fourth, ladder, will come out in patch 1.6). With practice, you risk nothing. With "bet coins", you risk a certain amount of money. In "card loot battle", you risk the deck you play (within certain limits, covered below).

Q: Other than betting cards, is there anything else different?

A: Yep, it can only be played in pro mode. That means you play two cards and loot for a match, and you'll see two of their cards. Then you each pick two more cards, take a glance at each other's hands, and then pick the last two cards.

Q: What are the prerequisites to play.

A: You need to have at least 400 gold to cover the timeout penalty. You also need to be level 5 to play.

Q: What is the timeout penalty?

A: If for some reason you don't play--whether because you can't make up your mind, you fell asleep or stepped away while waiting for a match to be found, or is just afraid to face the opponent you are matched up with--this is the penalty for not completing the game. It's an incentive to play and not be too picky on who you play against.

Q: Which cards are at risk of being looted?

A: Only the non-epic cards you play, anything not played is not at risk. There are ways to mitigate the risk.

Q: If I win, how many cards can I pick?

A: By default, you can choose one card, but in the shop you can upgrade so you can loot more cards. I forget the cost (somebody help!), but it isn't much to get to all six. A few grand, if I remember right.

Q: There is also an upgrade for identifying cards. What is this?

A: I don't know (somebody help!), because I upgraded that to max as well before I got into loot battles. I assume that the cards are turned around and only one or a few are identified. If you up this to six, you see all six cards.

Q: Which cards can I take if I win?

A: This is determined by a number of factors.

1) The number of cards you can take without any upgrades is 1. If you increase your level in "Sticky Fingers", which costs a couple of hundred gold per level, you can increase this so you can take all six cards.

2) No matter how much you upgrade your "sticky fingers", you can only loot as many cards as you identify. Make sure you increase your identify as much as possible. Honestly, you really should get them both upgraded to the maximum level before doing a cards loot battle.

3) Upgrading your VIP level gives a chance of protecting a card from being looted. With zero VIP upgrades, there is no protection, but it increases the higher VIP level you go. At VIP level 6, your legend-quality cards have a 50% chance of not being looted. If you play a player with any level of VIP, one or more of their cards might be protected.

4) Epic-level cards cannot be looted. Sorry, you can't win them, you have the buy them.

Q: How can I mitigate the risk of losing my cards?

A: Short answer: don't lose. I know, that isn't realistic, even the top player "only" wins 90% of the time. There are other ways to protect your cards from being taken:

1) Again, epic-level cards are not lootable. Play those and you don't have anything to worry about.
2) Upgrade your VIP level. You can't guarantee to protect a card, but it ups the chances. If you have a standard account, you will have no protection from this. You can upgrade your VIP level in the shop, but it costs diamonds.
3) Don't play what you can't stand to lose. When I lost my favorite card, my winning streak plummeted until I earned up enough money to keep buying cards until I got it back again. It's a lot like gambling in Vegas, only gamble away what you don't need. When I lost my favorite card, my winning percentage dropped below 50% until I lucked into another one. Ugh, if I had known that was my last one...
4) Even if a card is looted from you, you can still revive it and put it back into your deck. I'll cover that next.

Q: I lost a card, can I get it back?

A: Yes, through revision. Another upgrade option is through Necronomicon in the shop => upgrades area. The higher level it is, the more cards you can revive after a fight.

Revising cards cost differently based on what quality the card is.

Silver: 495 gold
Gold: 1,195 gold
Diamond: 2,850 gold
Legend: 15 diamonds

Q: I couldn't afford to revive a card, but now I've got the money. How can I revive the card afterward.

A: You don't. Once you pass that screen, there is no going back. I wish we could, though (*cough* *cough* ADMIN! *cough*)

I have been thinking of it, and I haven't tried this out yet, but there might be a way around this. If you realize you are going to lose you can kill the app. When you return the next time, the fight will be shown as unplayed. I imagine at this time you could be collecting bonuses for gold or purchasing diamonds (and/or gold) from the shop. Then you can go back to your matches, play it out, and when you've finished, revive the card(s) you want. Just remember that you cannot start another fight until this one is resolved. If you are waiting on your time rewards, you might be waiting a while.

Also, nothing stops you from fighting others and winning back another copy.

Q: If I revive a card, does it take it away from the winner? (Likewise, if I win a card, can somebody revive them and take them away from me?)

A: No. If the loser revives the card, both the winner and the loser will have a copy.

Q: What happens if I don't loot a card?

A: You aren't doing your opponent any favors. If you don't loot the card, it goes to nobody and disappears into a puff of air with little 1's and 0's in it. So, if you are given the option to loot, don't hesitate and do it!

Q: Do I lose or win any gold by playing?

A: No, only your cards are on the line. Well... and your pride.

Q: When do you think I'll be ready to play?

A: I'd recommend having your revive/Necronomicon (chance to recover cards), identifier (number of cards to identify), and sticky fingers (how many cards you can loot) maxed out. It really isn't that much. I'd also recommend a good winning percentage on 300-gold fights. Card loot battles are more competitive and tougher.

I'd also recommend playing a good handful of pro games, to give you practice in building decks against what other players select from their own deck.

Another recommendation is to know what all the cards can do. It's hard to defend yourself against an invisible enemy. In other words, if you don't know what your opponent is setting up against you, how will you know the best hands to play in order to survive and win? This comes with spending some time on this website and playing the game.

A good rule of thumb is to have enough gold and diamonds to revive the cards you can't do without. With 6 silver-level cards, it will cost you a little under 3,000 gold to get them all back.

Q: I'm just starting out, but I'm paired up against somebody who just dropped two level-20 epic cards. It's obvious I'm going to lose... Any advice?

A: Don't play. You have a roughly 90 second buffer between picking your 3rd and 4th cards and your 5th and 6th cards. If you don't lay down two cards during this time, the game will kick you out and penalize you 400 gold. Hey, it costs more than that to revive the lowest rated card, so this route is cheaper than losing some of your beloved cards.

Q: What happens if my opponent times out?

A: If you played and he/she didn't, you get to keep that 400 gold penalty. Momostorm doesn't tax it or charge a handling fee or anything for it.

Heads up: When you win or lose through a timeout, it seems to take a while for the 400 gold to be reflected in your balance. Just give it a half minute or so to show the plus or minus 400 gold.

Q: What happens if we both time out?

A: This is an assumption, because I haven't seen otherwise, but I think you both lose out on the 400 gold and Momostorm is ahead 800.

Q: Okay, so walk me through it. What should I see during a card loot battle?

A: It all starts at the "Find Opponent" screen. You choose the third option (as of patch 1.51) for Cards Loot Battle. You can only play in Pro mode, so you don't have to select "Quick".

From there, it is similar to playing in pro mode. You choose 2 cards and look for an opponent. Once one is found, you will see the 2 cards your opponent selected (the triggers are hidden), and you choose 2 more. There is a countdown of about 90 seconds to respond, so make sure you do this in a timely manner. After you both choose 2 cards, you look one more time and then choose the final 2 cards. Once you've both chosen your 6 cards, it goes to the cards battle scene.

We've all seen this. They fight. Blood is spilled. Egos are destroyed. Ultimately, somebody wins and somebody gets tempted to throw their mobile device across the room.

If you lose, it will show you which cards you lost, and if you have revive, it gives you the option and required cost to do so. Costs are listed above.

After this, you get the summary screen of how much experience you earned and what you've lost. You go ahead, and you are back to the main menu.

However, if you win, you are shown which cards you can loot, and am prompted to select which cards you want. You don't have to loot them all, but you might as well do it... your opponent loosing the card regardless.

Okay, I'll let you know when changes are made to this post!

Hi PrOdigy,

Just want to say, Props to you for this very detailed faq.

I read somewhere when you dont have a leveled up identify,
even if you leveled up the loot more cards... youre still limited to take just one.

Nice Faq Pr0digy!

If i had known that from the start.... I won my first Loot Battle and could only pick one card, but risked everything.

Loot Battle should be considered as a lesson in the Academy or at least update the Library.
I lost my best Legend Card because i didn't know i had to pay 15 Diamonds. There should be a shop fuction (or that you sell your remaining other cards to the shop to make gold) in the revive screen to revive your cards if you haven't enough Gold or Diamonds.

Upgrade costs:

Identify:
Lvl 1: 198g? not sure (Identify 2 cards)
Lvl 2: 249g? not sure (Identify 3 cards)
Lvl 3: 299g? not sure (Identify 4 cards)
Lvl 4: 349g (Identify 5 cards)
Lvl 5: 399g (Identify 6 (all) cards)

Sticky Fingers:
Lvl 1: 249g? not sure (take up to 2 cards)
Lvl 2: 349g (take up to 3 cards)
Lvl 3: 449g (take up to 4 cards)
Lvl 4: 549g (take up to 5 cards)
Lvl 5: 649g (take up to 6 (all) cards)

Necronomicon:
Lvl 1: 198g (revive up to 2 cards)
Lvl 2: 249g (revive up to 3 cards)
Lvl 3: 299g (revive up to 4 cards)
Lvl 4: 349g (revive up to 5 cards)
Lvl 5: 399g? not sure (revive up to 6 (all) cards)

This is a great idea.

Admin take this into consideration possibly, when looking to update next.

Let us go to the shop while at the Revive screen, so we can sell some other cards to make enough Gold to revive if we need. :ugeek:
