Hey Bear Warriors, you want to get hit!

I keep seeing this as I'm fighting others, so I figured I'd address it here. For those of you embracing the bear warrior strategy (getting stronger and stronger until they are one-shotting people), always remember that you want to get hit.
Not too hard, obviously, they aren't that well armored, but the bear warrior doesn't get awesome until they take about 5 hits or so. Before that, they do a weak 289 damage (pre-enhanced). I've had one get hit so many times that it hit one guy for 12,000 damage. That is what you want! But this is what I keep seeing:
1) People who play with Gargoyle's. The Gargoyle is designed to take hits that your weaker characters are supposed to take. It doesn't get stronger, only harder. But if everybody is hitting your Gargoyle then your bear is just gonna be a weakling while the opposition is probably getting ahead of the curve.
2) Using Frost and Pit Trap. Yeah, you are doing a bit of damage, but you aren't getting hit. You don't want the damage the traps do, you want the damage the bear warrior can develop. This might be good in pro mode and you know you are about to face a bunch of people, so this is one way to space it out and get some heals in, but I find that is usually not the norm in quick mode.
3) Sabotage. You want to be careful with this one. Yeah, you may not want the enemy being able to heal themselves, but you might stop some good damage coming in to hurt you. Blizzards, poison rain, and energy twisters? Oh, I love those. The damage doesn't hurt too much (energy twister only does half damage on the bears) and you get a quick boost. I recommend you let them heal themselves. When your bears get strong enough, then you can destroy them.
Things that work well for bear warriors:
1) Heals - Keep your bears healed. If they take too much damage, they become worthless when they can't hit back.
2) Trap Detection - One or two of these help prevent your guys from getting one-shot from something (like Princess Mia). Again, you want to get hit, but not too hard. Take a softer hit and get healed.
3) Energy Twister (Legendary) - This is great! It damages the other guys while doing minimal damage to yourself. That damage increases your attack power.
4) Archangel's Courage - You have to give up one of your six slots for this, but the extra armor can keep your bears alive a lot longer and survive a barrage of hits.
5) Slashing Strike - Hit them at 250% (or more) damage. Those are some mean bears!!
6) Blade Shield - I usually have a few bears (2-3) when I play this strategy. If they do have something incredibly powerful, like a Princess Mia with a slashing strike, then these shields will take care of them. They one-shot you, you one-shot them back in return. It's Karma, bitch!!!
Bottom line on the bears:
Keep 'em alive, and let them keep getting hit.
PS On that 12,000k hit, the story goes like this. I was going against somebody with two specters, which the bears can only whittle down 200 hit points at a time because of the Specter's defense against melee. They also had an Evil Lich a Blizzard and something else I can't remember.
I had two bears, two heals, a slashing strike, and a Princess Mia. Mia helped me take down the two specters, but it took a while, meanwhile one of the bears died at the beginning, but that freed up a heal to keep the second bear from getting too weak. He just kept getting hit, but the heals kept him alive. So every turn we could only get one Specter down 600 health, but my bear was growing stronger and stronger. Somewhere along the line, Mia died too.
As soon as the 2nd Specter died, my bear was in a fury. He attacked the first lich unbuffed and nailed him for about 3 thousand and croaked. The second lich hit me, I got hit by the Blizzard, but then my cooldown on the slashing strike was up. WHAM!!! 12,000 damage.
That's how you use those bears! Oh, and feed them porridge, they seem to like that, just make sure the temperature is right.
