The core battle mechnisim in ECB 3 is resigned from sketch. (ECB 2 shares similar design as ECB 1) The purpose is to simply redundent designs while still keep in-depth strategy as much as possible.
Combat type is a dedicated attribute of Creature cards. Each Creature card's combat type will be one among four types: Force, Pierce, Special, Magic.
Combat type allows Creature cards to counter or be countered by other combat types. In ECB 1/2, this purpose is achieved by having two attributes: Attack Type & Armor Type. In ECB3, it's replaced by 1 single attribute, combat type, to simply the complexity.
Combat type will also be used in targeting system in ECB 3, thus attribute "attack target" in ECB 1/2 is also abandoned in ECB 3. Creature cards will target enemy Creature cards based on their combat type as first piority to deal most efficient damage.
