Recently I've started playing Tyrant Unleashed by Kongregate. I'M HOOKED!! You've probably seen me in EBC a lot less likely. Tyrant is giving me everything we've been asking for. Top level cards are obtainable with a lot of work and no money. Even with money, you can't buy your way to the top, but you can certainly subsidize your game play by throwing a few extra bucks its direction. Getting cards is SUPER easy, as well as gold. Even when you lose, you get some gold (not as much as when you win, of course). The cards are sacrificed like EBC, but you don't have to grind for hours on end to pick a couple of them up. And when you do pay money for upgrades or whatever, you aren't out a couple hundred bucks for a high-level card. EBC wants $175 to obtain one as a daily achievement, and I think to buy one outright is somewhere in the $75 range. Tyrant wants about $20.PennFifteen wrote:Winstonz can you share these games with me?
Ive tried so many
It isn't perfect, but this is where I'm most impressed with them: tons of people play. Tons of them! It isn't doing battle with the same four people over and over again, I can 100 games and not play the same person twice. They have so many, they've put them in guilds and they have guild wars for prizes. Not measily nothing prizes like EBC ladders, I mean you can really get some boosts. They're forums are hoping and their fans have created simulators for the game (to test out card uses) and work a very informative and active Wiki. They actually have a chat that works!! I know, I know... unheard of. They even have events with... well, I'm on quest #51 with no end in sight, and they come out with such content on a monthly basis. MONTHLY BASIS!!! Storylines and everthing. EBC has their 80 quests with mediocre (at best) rewards.
Sadly, this is what I had hoped EBC would become, but they've turned up the middle finger to us so much when we ask for this type of gameplay because they want to large purchases instead of having faith in thousands of micro-purchases. EBC is happy with 20 people paying $100, but this game settles for 10,000 people paying $10 a day. Every payday I sent a little money to EBC because I like paying developers for great work. Well, this check's contribution went to Tyrant.
I'll still pop in now and then, mostly because I hope EBC gets the message (and card loot is still my favorite aspect of the game), but I'm done paying for an app that is more interested in getting money from me than listening to its users on how to make a great game.
Oh, and Tyrant does have developers who play.... but they aren't named Bluebear with a deck to steamroll over everybody. They are just there to help get the newbies up and going.
EBC: get a clue, you are missing out on a great opportunity! You can't hold on to players, gameplay doesn't justify the tiny rewards, new players can't compete unless they drop AT LEAST $500, the campaign is short and practically meaningless, there is no storyline, you have employees playing as overpowered players, and you don't listen to those who would love to see this become a success. Pay to win is not as successful a business model as encourage the player to play. And rewarding the guy who takes 6th place overall with enough diamonds to protect one card in loot battle? Really? You've had three seasons with akke.Nirvana buying himself to the top and is the ONLY one getting a decent reward. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Seriously, I'm embarrassed for you. With three wins and the only one walking away with cards, you've made it impossible for anybody else to ever have success in ladders. For now, ladder playtime is a waste of time. Everybody in the top 500 should be walking away with cards. Legendaries for the top 100. Epics for the top 10. Diamonds for everybody else. Afterall, most of them will get sacrified anyway, but it would at least encourage people to play. Right now, there is no encouragement, and you've done everything you can to ruin the part of the game I enjoy the most: card loot battle. 50 diamonds to protect a legendary card? It's like you have to gamble $5 to play one, and if you haven't paid any money then there is no way you'll actually get a legendary card. Ever. Even by participating in card loot battle, and winning, you'll never get a legendary card until you plot out some cash... and a lot of cash at that. Seriously, do you really think you are going to attract a million active users with this mentality?
Rant's over.
