Can someone explain how VIP works?

I know that you get VIP status for making purchases, but how do the levels work? Do you get +1 VIP every time you make a purchase? Is this a possible reason it's smart to make several small purchases instead of one big one?

If someone who knows could explain, I'd be grateful.

When you upgrade your VIP you get more free daily gold, energy to do quest and when you max out VIP you can buy epic & legendary cards individually

Thank you but I think I asked the question wrong because that's not what I meant. XD

I am asking how much VIP do I get for a $5 purchase? If I buy $5 twice do I get VIP 2? Is it better to buy $10 or $5 twice for this reason? Some games do it by total amount of $, and other games do it by number of times you spend.

I don't think that's how VIP works in ECB.
You have to buy VIP status with diamonds.
