Countering the Threat attacker with Tanks -Control the Match

Post by -bookie- »

So I thought I would share an important strategy that many players don't understand fully or have never considered. When choosing cards it's not just about card ability. 50% of my card selection revolves around attack and armor type. Because of the bonuses that certain atta ms get on certain armors this can be often more influential in how te match goes than any of the abilities that the cards read. There is one situation where you can dictate which cards will attack which cards very easily and that is against ykur opponent "threat target" units. For this discussion I mention the strategy on how to use the tank and that even a brand new player can beat the highest level epics and strongest decks in the game.

A tank is a card that has the ideal armor type against an attacking unit and will take very little damage. The Afvantage to a tank is that it may take four or five attacks to kill the card rather than 2 or 3. This can be the difference in who wins the match and constitutes ykur defensive considerations during card selection. Tanks can be any cards. For example you opponnet plays a card with pierce attack and heavy armor. An ideal tank will be for you to pick a card with heavy armor as it will be the best defense against his pierce attacker. That is ykur defensive consideration. Ykur offensive consideration is to pick a unit with magic Ttack to conter his heavy armor. That is the ideal attack type. So in a Battl of a pierce/heavy armor unit vs a magic attack/heavy armor unit the second will usually win even at a much lower rarity or level. Take for example succubus vs Godfather. Succubus is a tank vs GodfTher. She had the ideal armor type vs godfather and the ideal attack type vs him as well. Thus takes many attacks for godfather to kill her and also her special ability makes it to where they are dead even in one-on-one.bbmost people would not think of succubus as a tank because of the low armor. But remember a tank is just any unit that has the best armor type to defend against another cards attack type.

Now let's move on to the general topic of defending ykur opponents "threat target" attack type units. When an opponent plays a threat target unit like say Monkey King which has threat target melee you have the ability to immediately pick which unit that will be targeted by monkey King. Of all your choices you can lick which one of ykur units will have the highest attack and which one the monkey King will attack first. By licking a tank you can keep monkey King from being able o kill any units early on. What is a good tank for monkey King? Remember it must have the highest attack of all ykur units on the battlefield. For many free players this can be unicorn or skeleton King, many players say I cannot stop the monkey King because I cannot use traps on him. Well the real secret that te too players know is that you CAN stop monkey King but with tanks instead. If it takes monkey five attacks to kill ykur unit instead of three ten you have literally wasted two of monkey kings turns and that is just as good as trapping him.

Tanking early in the match is the best but you will also pick units that will not be first to get attacked as well as ykur tanks. Make sure all your units have great armor types against the units they will face early on and even at the end of te match. When using a tank against a threat unit you will slow the match down at first and survive the initial onslaught early on better. This gives ykur forces more time o get in action and do damage. When you are tanking very well you will see that spells can be very effective. The longer the match goes the more chance that spells will do more damage and win you the match. So when using tanks you are better off using spells rather than traps to win you the battle. Think of tanks as ykur defense and think of spells as ykur offense. Now below I will show you the power of the tank.

In this match I am vs all level one free cards and I'm bringin all super high level epics that look impossible to beat. However I am in very big trouble here and you will soon see why. First the skeleton King is chosen by my opponent to initially tank attacks from three of my units. I have made the over commitment of choosing three threat target units monkey, godfather, and archangel. Because of this my opponent can completely dictate the match and who I will attack. First is the skeleton King which can tank all three units. Both godfather and monkey hit for less than 500 damage and the skeleton King comoketely survives the first four attacks and half way into round two I have not killed single unit yet.

Next his joker copies my archangel. Now my godfTher and monkey are getting g tanked by his archangel and doing very little damage to the high heavy armor type. Again it takes me several attacks more than I would want to finish off the archangel. All while his defenses are strong and prolonging the match his wrath of God is striking down continuously.

Now it's not over. The Unicorn tanks the godfather and monkey of mine. This third tank is almost too much for me I cannot finish him off even though he is half my strength soon I will lose if I do not get lucky.

And now the final outcome you see that I baty survived the onslaught. Had my opponent just leveled up a few cards I surelt would have lost even with the strongest cards in the game. The wise choice of armor type helped my opponent defend against me and was pivotal in almost winning the match. Because of all the threat target unit I chose he was able to control the match which is hard to do vs a much stronger player. Timately he stalled all my attacks. Now mind you never was "card ability" factored into this. The tank concept used the armor type and amount to defend and the units abilities were secondary in the strategy. Well now you know how to defend against the "threat attack" unit. Be sure to level ykur cards appropriately so you know which ones have the highest attacks so that when its time to tank the threat attack you known it's what cards to choose. Best of luck!
