You mean the best up to gain exp? You may play exercise matches and use the reward from level up to buy $2498 pack. After you have a decent deck, you may start playing quick mode coin bet. Of course, complete campaign quests will give you decent reward too.

Thanks I was unaware that practice matches gave exp. Also I fixed my friend code in the OP , sorry about that.

Are there any particularly strong cards/combos to utilize early on when you don't have many legend/epics?

There some powerful stater decks, included but not limited to:
1. 5 bandits+Archangel's Courage/Blade Shield
2. Heal*3, Bear Warrior, Archangel's Courage*2
3. Dogger*2+4 magic cards which deal damage(e.g. poison rain, meteor, flaming arrows)
