New Server New Game?
New Server New Game?
Some top pay players are wondering why a new server is being created despite the number of online players being lower than what they were a few months ago. Is this a separate server or a cross server? Just wanting to know if you are growing the game or splitting it in two. Thank you for a response.
Re: New Server New Game?
Words has spread now confirming that this is a new server separate from the current one. Already there are over 80 new players on this new server. I am here to ask why are you doing this? Every new player is now going to a new server and this means that server 1 will not be gaining any new players from this point forth. What is going to happen to server 1 one month from now or 3 months from now. The number of online players will continue to dwindle. Even many of the free players will leave and choose to start over in server 2. As an invested player in the game I am one of your top financial supporters. There are a couple dozen of us who have made this game happen and footed the bill for this game. I personally am worried now that after all I've spent it will be worthless in a few months. You will need to convince me why I should spend again the next time an event card comes out. In fact you should convince any of the players in server 1 now why they should spend next time an event card comes out. Knowing now that the number of online players will continue to dwindle since all the new players are being directed to server 2 now.
I hope that you are understanding what I am saying. For the last 4 months I have been having an affair with ecb. I have actually been playing a second card game called Infinite Myths. You know this game was fun but different than ecb. In fact there were several of players who spent a small fortune on the game in just the first few weeks including myself. Then after a couple of months they decided to open up a second server that was completely separate. A month later they opened up a third server completely separate. What ended up happening? The number of players in server 1 dropped from nearly 1000 to now barely over 100 with maybe only a few dozen seriously playing the game. Last time I did the boss battle there were under 50 people bothering to participate in it compared to hundreds when I first started. I am glad i did not make a large financial investment in that game, bc now I have walked away from it completely as well as 95% of the big spenders who came out the gates swinging.
Well, why are you doing this is the question and we all know the answer. The top players are just too strong now for the free players and they get frustrated and quit. How does ecb solve this? Simply by creating a new server where players can start over on a level playing field. Well I can entirely understand this in fact it sounds great for new players coming into the game. But boy it sounds pretty devastating to anyone who has financially invested in the game or put in hours of their time to know that their server is pretty much done receiving new players. I hope I am wrong about this and maybe you have a plan we don't all know about....Are you going to combine the servers eventually? We as players deserve to know the answers to these questions. If the answer is no, then you need to convince me why I should drop $200 on the next card knowing that my server is in decline. You don't need to just convince me you need to convince everyone on server 1.
It is hard to suggest a solution if I can only assume why are you doing this. So many times we have tried to tell you how important the free player is. Without the free player the person slightly above that struggles, without that person, then the person slightly above that struggles. Their is a ripple effect all the way up to the top. If you kick the legs out of a man he falls down. Is this the problem that you cannot keep the free player so you have to create another server? If so, we have made countless suggestions to keep the free player. Such as:
1. Award more 4 star cards
2. Offer better gold for farming, make farming better for the grinders
3. Offer a new battle mode with a cap or a separate ladder for players below a certain level
4. Increase ladder incentives to double the number of players in ladder. This avoids big players matching up with free players
5. Offer more discounts to free players or players who haven't spent for some time or logged in for quite some time. Try to get them invested in the game or to come back to the game.
6. Give low level players a place to play against each other and get gold.
What is happening now? You are replacing all the free players in server 1 with bots....I am on the cusp of making a critical decision. Do I stay or do i go? I just need you to explain your side and your vision for this game. What are your goals for the next three months? Are you growing the game or are you splitting it in two where server 1 will eventually dwindle?
The free player is equally important as the pay player. You must focus on them or everyone loses. There is no need to create another server. The real answer is creating a better game.

Re: New Server New Game?
I totally agree with -bookie-.
The game is already losing more and more active players. After the last major update the number of users online dropped from above 500 to far below 400 which means nothing else than players were disappointed about the lack of progress in the new update or not enough thrilled from the game anymore to even take the time to install the update.
So to keep the game alive you have to attract new players and also those who are stuck at the beginning and give them a chance to compete with those who already bought tons of cards. To also say something positive, the card changes done in the last major update were a step in the right direction and you can find lots of more good ideas in -bookie-'s post.
But you will not succeed to make the game more attractive by splitting the fewer players left by introducing two seperate servers!
As -bookie- described for the other game, this indeed might be the beginning of the end of ECB.
As a free player it took me months to become good enough to compete with some paying players. I surely will not invest the time again on a second server as sure as the paying players will not pay again on a second server. In addition, none of us can be sure server 2 will only last for a few months before server 3 is launched and every progress will be obsolete again. Those who invest time and money need to be sure there is something to get for for more than just a short time.
So most players on server 1 will surely stop playing sooner or later with more and more matches replaced by bots with annoying decks and no real goal left to reach. No new users will soon end most activities on server 1.
Of course the new server will gain a lot of new players in the first days. Most players from the first server will have a look and have some fun being top ten in ladder for a short time before a few new people buy some cards. But I guess right then most new players who got attracted will stop playing once they see they also can not compete here, at least not without paying twice. At the end the second server might never reach even the lower number of active users the old one actually has.
Just have in mind, most players interested in ECB already had a look at server 1. If they didn't stay there, there are reasons for this. There aren't millions more at Google Play and Appstore who just waited for a new card game server to open. And not too many will be interested to test the game if they can read in reviews of the old users, that the return for their invest in time and money was not worthy and the game server was dying after a few months, making every progress useless.
So with both servers losing Players in near future and replacing them with annoying bots, what will be your solution for this? Starting server 3 which will surely get less users again than server 2?
Sorry MomoStorm, this is going very wrong.
You still have a lot of players who have fun playing and some of them payed your bills in the past and are OK to do so in the future. Don't ruin our game by stealing new players from us which will make server 1 uninteresting for many of us soon while server 2 has no chance to equal server 1 in long term.
Please consider bringing together all players who love ECB on one server instead. The right way is to keep your existing players in the game which means there needs to be more competition and new players. Both can be brought in only by making the existing game more attractive for new players. First steps were made in the last major update with changes to the cards. There is still a lot more which can bring in more fun.
Splitting your community into several servers will not solve the problems of ECB because any new server will also become uninteresting after a while for new players if game play does not change. It will just double the problems to any server while reducing the number of users at any of them making the game obsolete for everyone on any server.
Best regards, LF.

Re: New Server New Game?
Hi Players,
Thank you for your feedback. They are really helpful.
ECB is on Steam Greenlight, its performing well and should allow it to be soon available on world's largest online digital shop. And it will expect more players flowing, so we have opened up a new server for preparation.
And also, not all new accounts are created on new server. Some traffic is still routed to server 1.
v2.3 is a milestone that the game is mature. Meanwhile we will now focus on distributing on more platforms e.g. amazon app store, windows app store etc and possible partners to market the game.

Re: New Server New Game?
I can confirm that not all new players are routed to new server. Actually I believe a players base has declined last days. Just now I was waiting for both ladder and quick money much for more than half hour and nothing happens.
A few bots on start doesn't make a fun. Especially if bot uses as opponent one player from top ten and bounty is about 40 points to ladder. So I have no chance to get enough to be successful in ladder
I see that some players from old server had tried the new server ... and left again to play old one.
Admin, what should I enjoy here? Can I recommend this game?
