Lack of player base has always been one of ecb's biggest issues in my opinon. Weaker/new/free players wouldn't have such a hard time playing if there were much more players online. More players in matches would result in more of a fair fight. Cutting out much frustration.
That being said, server 1 now has a decent problem. Low population which results in way too many bots. 3/5 matches are honestly bots these days.
Server 2 now has double the population of server 1. I understand creating a separate server to attract new players and that's great. Its just that now server 1 with all your long time supporters are suffering a decent amount.
Is there any plan to combine the servers? That would give around 900 player base and will help tremendously the bot and unfair match up problems.
Bots & Server 2
Re: Bots & Server 2
1. If could give a reward for the highest achiever in ladder every day that everyone could play for then everyone would play every day and as mich as possible. Many players choose not to play ladder till the last three days meaning the first week of ladder can be missing a lot of players who are farming gold in coin bet instead or quick mode. So if can combine coin pro with ladder pro then players playing boys in coin and players playing bots in ladder can face rag other instead. secondly this rewards coins for playing ladder. There is less incentive to play ladder because you get no immediate coin reward for winning. How about 50 gold. A small bribe could significantly encourage more players to play ladder and would cost you next to nothing. Then there is the concept of "highest daily achiever." What can that be and can everyone have a chance at winning? Maybe you are brilliant and can devise an incentive here to. ia there something you can devise that rewards one player every day say 25 diamonds regardless of cards or level. but based on performance and or lots of games played? Wrll I will leave that up to you.
2. Secondly weak bots still serve a purpose for giving new players on server 1 and 2 fair or challenging match ups still. However they are more of a nuisance for top players. You can adjust the algorithm to wait longer to give players a chance to wait and match up vs a real person. That's a partial fix. You can also offer boys with legends and epics for higher ranked players. This actually could be interesting, facing a boy that plays random blue cards and below is not only uninteresting buy a waste of time.
3. Cross server PVP. To me, you have two separate servers, two separate ladders, and hence two separate games. And that's ok. This is what you've declared. Despite that there could still be benefit to allowing players on each server to face one another. This could be during designated times and DP could still flow both ways between servers. In the end you still have a second server with a ladder where those players are ultimately competing amongst themselves for the top ranks in their own ladder. A newer player can still rank well and is highly motivated to play and push.
4. Some negative comments on steam focused on two things. 1. Battles were really slow and you had to "pay" for faster battles (boots of speed). This is like paying to unlock special effects. You would be shooting yourself in the foot of you did that. Faster battles means more battles can be played. And also a new player is usually on the losing side of a battle. Because they have no boots of speed they are painfully watching a losing battle with the small hope that they will pull off a miracle. But still even a hardcore match can take 10 minutes for a free player but say 3 minutes for someone who has "paid" to watch battles faster..? The new player game experience suffers unnecessarily.
5. Additionally as complained about on steam is that you have little energy to play. So another disadvantage for the new player is they can only play a few games before they run out. Then after that they are stuck. This is when they close your app and open a new one. Probably another game that doesn't limit their play. This means your policy is sending your players to play games your competitors may be making. IY would make more sense to do everything in your power to keep players logged in and playing your game and forgetting that any other game out there even exists.
6. There is enough negative comments on steam that many o the new steam players left or newer ones may be discouraged from trying it. Maybe they have good suggestions o help improve the game for new players.

Its frustating to be free player, 1st they match up against CAP 150 then have to watch slow and painfully death, then losing dp on top of that. It's like punish upon punish upon punish. No wonder they quit.
Re: Bots & Server 2
Well we have been on the same issue, such as helping new players by giving them daily login rewards. I hope we will see that in the nearest future (lets we hope next patch?) !!

Bots are fine for new players, yes.
But no new players come to Server 1. We are steadily losing players not gaining.

Re: Bots & Server 2
I've been away from the game for almost a year. It seems like every change that was made during the 2 or 3 updates I missed did nothing to help grow the population of this game. The changes actually seem geared towards the exact opposite.
There are plenty of games out there that give free players the same things pay players get. Marvel Puzzle Quest is a perfect example. It's also consistently ranked in the top 25 grossing apps for over a year now. I've seen this game in the top 100 once. Somewhere near 90th place. Take a page from there book and watch your pockets fill with money.
I'm not gonna waste my breath anymore by going into detail. I don't believe the devs care about anything but making money. In this format they make money so why bother changing? It's a risk. They may make more but if it ain't broke don't fix it right?

I would disagree with you sickboy. Yes ecb is a pricey game and so many have quit because of that including myself. Many have also came back and enjoyed the game for what it is in a different way. Epic Cards Battle is a battle against the Epic. Many free players in my guild actually enjoy the game "more" than some pay players as te game is not only more challenging but makes them think harder and devise a long term plan to complete their "hit list". Of course everyone likes o have more cards and there are some major steps the devs have done.
1. Guilds now allows free players to get free diamonds and rubies every two week. One free player in my guild got 1700 gold and rubies for two weeks playing. This is a significant improvement upon the past.
2. V2.5 which will be released this month will be featuring several additional reward mechanisms such as an achievement system, daily guild login, and no more penalty coin losses in bet mode. The last item will actually allow the free player to accumulate gold at a significantly faster rate because they will not be going backwards anymore. This will double the gold for many players can get and allow them to buy lucky stars at twice the rate to chance for a missing diamond card or shot at a legend.
3. The last two legend cards released actually are better than many of the epic cards. Many players who have not spent in the past have chosen too and the competition at the top is fiercer than ever. Many top players regularly lose to players outside the top 20. And because many have bought the recent legend cards they have had enough diamonds to pick up sMe legacy packs and get epics as well.
4. The number of online players hovers at 325-350 but there are actually close to 800 who participate in ladder each season. I know this because I skipped a ladder and played one match at the end to find out.
5. The game does now have two servers which is a double edged sword but many new players have had the opportunity to enjoy the game on server 2 without facing as strong of decks. Despite that many old players who stopped playing have been satisfied with some changes and have come back. I can count over a dozen just now.
6. Though the game is not what you want it to be or myself it is what it is. I recently played a game with 1-5 star cards and though it had a model that gave away five star cards to everyone it ended up going bust. Mobile games must balance the free existence with the economics of keeping the game going. Of course an economic model based in this will not always result in equal fairness but every game is different and sustains itself in different ways.
7. Silver cards can now be evolved to level 100 and in fact many top players start silver cards in their starting hand including myself. Many level 100 silver cards are comparable to level 1 epics or level 10 legends maybe even level 20. There is a larger pool of cards to pull from and a never ending journey for free and pay. Is up to you to decide if journey is worth it.
I can understand your frustration though because I have been there too. And I have left twice before to play other games. Hey everyone needs a break from time to time. So if you decide to come back you are welcome here and just remember to join my guild "walking dead"

Re: Bots & Server 2
May I suggest that the two Servers cross battle in Ladder up UNTIL the last 24 hours. At that point make it only server side fights to determine the server winner. Im so sick of fighting bots every day and then losing all points to a strong player, which then erases 20 bot matches.
